Temporary Work Permit (Süreli Çalışma İzni)

Validity: 1 year initial, renewable to 2 years, then 3 years. Tied to specific employer and workplace. To change employers, requires new application. Employer must comply with Turkish national employee ratio: minimum 5 Turkish employees per 1 foreign worker; exception: companies with annual net sales over 50 million TL can employ up to 5 foreigners without ratio.

Indefinite Work Permit (Süresiz Çalışma İzni)

Validity: Indefinite; no annual renewal required. Eligibility: minimum 8 years legal and uninterrupted work permit holders. Scope: covers all employers; right to work throughout Turkey.

Self-Employment Permit (Bağımsız Çalışma İzni)

Eligibility: minimum 5 years legal residence in Turkey; significant contribution to national economy required. No employer guarantee needed; applicant establishes own business. Requires ÇSGB and relevant ministry approval.

Turquoise Card (Turkuaz Kart)

Status: High-skilled foreign national. Validity: indefinite; no renewal required. Target: scientists, senior executives, investors with exceptional qualifications. Scope: unlimited work and employment changes. Family benefit: immediate family members eligible for residence permit.

Digital Nomad Visa (Dijital Göçebe Vizesi)

Validity: 6 months–1 year, renewable (1-2 times max). Scope: remote work for foreign employers/clients outside Turkey. Eligibility: age 21-55; monthly income USD 3,000 minimum (USD 36,000 annually); university diploma required; income from non-Turkey sources; international health insurance (min. USD 30,000); employment contract or freelance agreement. Fee: USD 160 (single entry) or USD 190 (multiple entry). Eligible countries: 43 designated nations (USA, Canada, EU, UK, Switzerland, select Eastern Europe).

Work Visa & Permit Process

Step 1 - Work Visa (at Turkish embassy abroad): employer or applicant applies; documents: valid passport, employment letter, diploma, 2 biometric photos, criminal background check, health insurance. Step 2 - Ministry Application: employer applies to ÇSGB within 10 business days of visa approval; processing: 30 days. Step 3 - Turkey Arrival: register with address registration system (AKS) within 20 days of entry. Total timeline: 6-10 weeks.
